Morales llegaba con un invicto s\u00f3lido por 15-0-0, mientras que su contrario llegaba con un r\u00e9cord de 19-6-0, siendo un peleador con m\u00e1s experiencia que el tricolor con 10 peleas m\u00e1s en su historial, siendo favorable para el oce\u00e1nico, ya que era m\u00e1s experiencia. Ya en el oct\u00e1gono, Morales intent\u00f3 imponer condiciones, llevando la pelea con ritmo y golpes directos a su rival que intent\u00f3 reaccionar, sin embargo no tuvo mucha precisi\u00f3n. El primer asalto qued\u00f3 parejo, sin embargo el australiano tuvo un fuerte golpe al rostro de Morales, dejando un 10-9 a favor de Matthews. En el cierre de la segunda ronda, Morales mantuvo la intensidad y conect\u00f3 en varias ocasiones a su rival, sellando el segundo asalto a su favor. Finalmente, en el tercer asalto, Matthews intent\u00f3 buscar remontar la pelea, sin embargo se encontr\u00f3 con un Morales s\u00f3lido, quedando a favor del tricolor.
