Autoridades confirmaron y destacaron su trayectoria y legado en este municipio de 300 habitantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/elmercuriomanta.ec\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-480.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-68359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elmercuriomanta.ec\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-480.png 1024w, https:\/\/elmercuriomanta.ec\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-480-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/elmercuriomanta.ec\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-480-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No se revelaron las causas. Regres\u00f3 a su pueblo en 1995, tras jubilarse de la Guardia Civil, y animado por sus vecinos se present\u00f3 a la alcald\u00eda, ganando con 70 a\u00f1os. Gobern\u00f3 casi tres d\u00e9cadas, con una breve pausa en 2023. Entre sus logros: biblioteca, piscina, instalaciones deportivas, tanatorio, becas y el primer cajero autom\u00e1tico, adem\u00e1s de mejoras en infraestructuras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Antes de la pol\u00edtica, ingres\u00f3 en la Guardia Civil en 1949, alcanz\u00f3 el grado de subteniente y sirvi\u00f3 en varias provincias, sobreviviendo a un atentado de ETA en el Pa\u00eds Vasco. En 2025 recibi\u00f3 el Escudo de Oro de Almer\u00eda, m\u00e1xima distinci\u00f3n de la Diputaci\u00f3n, por su dedicaci\u00f3n al servicio p\u00fablico.
