La medida responde a las amenazas del presidente de EE.UU., Donald Trump, quien advirti\u00f3 que las destruir\u00eda si Teher\u00e1n no reabre el estrecho de Ormuz antes de las 20:00 (hora de Washington). La movilizaci\u00f3n, presentada como un \u201cs\u00edmbolo de unidad y resistencia\u201d, fue explicada por el viceministro de Asuntos de la Juventud, Alireza Rahimi. Desde el inicio del conflicto, Ir\u00e1n restringe el tr\u00e1nsito por el estrecho \u2014por donde circula el 20% del petr\u00f3leo mundial\u2014 permitiendo solo el paso a pa\u00edses aliados. Esto ha encarecido petr\u00f3leo, fertilizantes, pl\u00e1sticos y alimentos. Figuras culturales se sumaron: el m\u00fasico Ali Gamsari acudi\u00f3 a la central de Damavand y el cantante Benyamin Bahadori pas\u00f3 la noche en el puente Tabiat, en Teher\u00e1n.
