El acuerdo fue suscrito por la canciller Gabriela Sommerfeld y el subsecretario de Estado estadounidense, Christopher Landau. El documento impulsa el uso pac\u00edfico, seguro y regulado de la energ\u00eda nuclear. Aunque no es vinculante, sienta una base pol\u00edtica y t\u00e9cnica para proyectos conjuntos y di\u00e1logo bilateral. Entre los temas contemplados figuran: intercambio de informaci\u00f3n, asistencia t\u00e9cnica, fortalecimiento de capacidades en infraestructura nuclear, seguridad, protecci\u00f3n radiol\u00f3gica y formaci\u00f3n de especialistas. La meta es que Ecuador adquiera m\u00e1s herramientas t\u00e9cnicas en este campo Am. bas partes coinciden en que la cooperaci\u00f3n nuclear civil puede contribuir a una matriz energ\u00e9tica m\u00e1s diversa y resiliente.
