Ambos est\u00e1n procesados por presunta difusi\u00f3n de informaci\u00f3n restringida al divulgar datos del informe Le\u00f3n de Troya. Tras su detenci\u00f3n en diciembre, una jueza les dict\u00f3 presentaciones peri\u00f3dicas y prohibici\u00f3n de salida del pa\u00eds. Al finalizar la diligencia, el presidente de la Corte adecu\u00f3 las medidas: Varela deber\u00e1 presentarse en la Fiscal\u00eda del Guayas o Pichincha, y Erazo, debido a su traslado administrativo a Quito, en la Fiscal\u00eda Provincial de Pichincha. En la audiencia de formulaci\u00f3n de cargos, la Fiscal\u00eda present\u00f3 45 elementos y pidi\u00f3 prisi\u00f3n preventiva para ellos y para el expolic\u00eda Rodney Rengel. Seg\u00fan la Fiscal\u00eda, Rengel \u2013 exinvestigador del caso Le\u00f3n de Troya\u2013 enviaba informaci\u00f3n confidencial al periodista Andersson Bosc\u00e1n.
