Correa calific\u00f3 la decisi\u00f3n como una \u201cgran noticia\u201d y se\u00f1al\u00f3 que Rivadeneira contar\u00e1 con su respaldo. El pronunciamiento se conoci\u00f3 luego de que el exministro Felipe Vega de la Cuadra declinara su postulaci\u00f3n para dirigir el movimiento. Vega atribuy\u00f3 su retiro a un clima de \u201cpersecuci\u00f3n y amenazas\u201d. Rivadeneira, quien en el pasado fue secretaria ejecutiva del extinto Alianza PAIS, reside en M\u00e9xico en calidad de asilada desde enero de 2020. Rivadeneira no ha informado si retornar\u00e1 al pa\u00eds para participar en la convenci\u00f3n nacional de RC, prevista para el 17 y 18 de enero en Manta (Manab\u00ed), donde se renovar\u00e1 la dirigencia.
