Seg\u00fan el jefe de la diplomacia estadounidense, esta \u00aborganizaci\u00f3n criminal violenta y poderosa con miles de miembros\u00bb tiene como \u00abprincipal fuente de ingresos el narcotr\u00e1fico de coca\u00edna, que utiliza para financiar sus actividades violentas\u00bb. El \u00abClan del Golfo\u00bb es \u00abresponsable de ataques terroristas contra funcionarios p\u00fablicos, agentes del orden, personal militar y civiles en Colombia\u00bb, agreg\u00f3 Rubio sobre la banda, actualmente en medio de di\u00e1logos de paz con el Gobierno del presidente del pa\u00eds suramericano, Gustavo Petro. \u00abEE.UU. continuar\u00e1 utilizando todas las herramientas disponibles para proteger a nuestra naci\u00f3n y detener las campa\u00f1as de violencia y terror perpetradas por carteles internacionales y organizaciones criminales transnacionales.
