La Sala Penal Especial de la Corte Suprema que juzg\u00f3 a Castillo consider\u00f3 que el exmandatario no consum\u00f3 el delito de rebeli\u00f3n al no concretarse sus intenciones golpistas, motivo por el que la Fiscal\u00eda vari\u00f3 durante el juicio la solicitud de pena contra el ex jefe de Estado de 34 a\u00f1os de c\u00e1rcel a la finalmente dictada por el tribunal.
