Torres ten\u00eda contrato con Emelec hasta mediados del 2024, sin embargo, el entrenador negoci\u00f3 su continuidad con la dirigencia el\u00e9ctrica, llegando a una extensi\u00f3n de seis meses m\u00e1s, asegurando su trabajo para toda la temporada. Emelec hizo oficial su renovaci\u00f3n, mientras que Torres se march\u00f3 a Colombia para pasar sus vacaciones en su pa\u00eds. Torres habr\u00eda tambi\u00e9n solicitado reforzar su equipo para tener una mejor actuaci\u00f3n en la Liga Pro, seg\u00fan Est\u00e9ffano Due\u00f1as, el cuerpo t\u00e9cnico habr\u00eda pedido hasta 9 fichajes. Torres arrib\u00f3 a Emelec a mediados del a\u00f1o, luego de una nefasta campa\u00f1a por parte de Miguel Rondelli, quien sali\u00f3 en junio del 2023, cuando el club estaba peleando en los puestos de descenso.
